Hi friends and happy Wednesday! I hope your week is off to a great start! I feel like we are slowlyyyyyyy getting back into action here. Our holiday break was so nice and relaxing that I feel like everything in our house is struggling to get back into the swing of things. Homework seems to be taking way longer than normal, no one wants to go to bed early and waking up early is a chore, too! I keep reminding the kids that Spring Break is coming! Ha! All this to say, I have really focussed on self care over the past few weeks.
I ended 2019 on a very stressed note and I woke up the day after Christmas and decided it was the time to take my life back. That might sound bold and a bit dramatic, but its the legit conversation that I had with myself. I told myself I was going to ride my at home bike, every single day for a MONTH! 30 days!! To try and create a habit. The truth is, I have let woking out go and it really is one of the best things you can do for stress and anxiety and your health in general. I’m thrilled to tell you today that I am on day 21 in a row of riding!! I am so proud of myself and feel stronger physically and emotionally. In 36 years, I have never worked out every day for 21 days, so I call that a win. It’s really just the little victories that matter and I celebrate each day as a success.
I turned to Nordstrom to update my workout gear because it’s been awhile since I actually purchased new staple pieces. Nordstrom has such a great selection of workout gear and athleisure wear. Zella is one of my favorite Nordstrom brands to wear to workout in. The leggings and sports bras are amazing and fit like a glove. I’m super excited to share a few of my favorite Zella looks today, as well as the small changes I am making to each day, in case you want to join me in this! Nordstrom always has awesome options for everyone in the family, plus I always try to use the shop online, pickup in store option, so that I can get my goodies even faster! There is something so satisfying about shopping from the comfort of my home and being able to grab those items within a few hours!! Take a peek at these looks and read all about what I added into my daily routine this year!
What I Added into My Daily Routine This Year
Move Your Body Everyday
My original goal was to ride 5 days a week, but after I realized 2 more were a piece of cake, I added them into to my personal challenge. While I have my bike to spin on, you can also do a challenge like this, by walking around your neighborhood, going to your local gym or trying other at home exercise programs. There are so many ways to move and when all else fails, do 30 push-ups everyday. I worked out with a trainer years ago and this was something she taught me! 30 push-ups a day…modified or regular and that is moving your body. Naturally, I was drawn to this snakeskin printed sports bra and legging combo from Nordstrom. I love a matching set, so I just couldn’t resist these. Wear them together or separate and you’ve got yourself a cute look. I really do think having cute workout gear helps to motivate!!
I also try and stretch most days. My body is super tight, so I find that this is key! George is super velcro, so anytime I am on the ground, he’s there…not a care in the world and doesn’t seem affected that I am indeed trying to stretch. This sports bra is one of my favorites…EVER! I have these in numerous colors and they are just amazing. They have great support and I love where they hit mid stomach. These live-in leggings are a long time favorite of mine. I have worn and loved them for years! They are perfectly high-waisted and hold you in, in the right places. These leggings can be worn to workout or as regular leggings. I do both and have numerous pairs of them. They are a closet staple for sure!
Eat Healthier Most of The Time
I live by the everything in moderation motto because I just don’t believe in depriving yourself of things that you want to eat. If I want a cookie, I have a cookie, but I typically won’t eat 5 at a time. You get my drift here? Everything in moderation. I am trying to start drinking my celery juice a few days a week again and I’ve been trying to keep the fridge stocked with healthier options to grab when I’m hungry. This goes for the kids, too! This sports bra and pants combo were made for me! I love the colors and print on the pants and I love the detailing on this sports bra!
