Happy Tuesday, friends! Did yesterday’s POST get you in the mood for fall? We seriously can’t wait to wear our fall clothes and shoes! There are a few rooms in Casa de Fancy that I have only shared glimpses of on Instagram, so I am trying to give you a peek into the rest of those rooms over the next few weeks. Our laundry room is a main hub of the house. I do dream about a HUGE mudroom, with a bathroom, shower, etc, someday. But, while we do have the garage space in this house to do it, it makes more sense to use that space for bikes, etc right now. When we built our home, we chose our builder based on the fact that we could customize certain things. Most builders are pretty set with the floor plans and you can’t even move a window or a door. That just didn’t work for us. I completely reconfigured our kitchen and family to be how they are now, as well as our laundry room. I knew I wanted lockers built, but was not a fan of the options the builder could provide, so we opted to configure the room for the builtins and hire our own cabinet maker after we moved in. This worked extremely well for us and I ended up getting the exact builtin lockers that I wanted. The laundry room is right off our garage, which I love. The kids go right in, put their shoes in their “cubbies” aka drawers and their backpacks, jackets, etc on their locker coat hooks. It’s been an ideal situation. In our old house, the laundry room was upstairs, which was a huge bummer to me. I much prefer it downstairs, right off the garage. It is definitely a catch all space and it is out of the way of the rest of the house. The one thing I do wish this space had is a folding area. My washer and dryer are on pedestals, so I cannot fold on top of them. There’s definitely no perfect room. With each home I live in, I always think of ideal things to add in my next home. Without further ado, here is our laundry room. It’s not the easiest room to photograph because of the shape, so hopefully you get the idea of the layout.
The top baskets hold iPads that we use for travel, phone/iPad chargers and the kids’ headphones.
Teddy and Reagan both have a drawer where they keep their shoes. It’s always the first thing we do when we walk in the door-shoes in the cubbies as they call them.
I keep pool towels, the kids’ swimsuits and sunscreen in these BASKETS on these 4 shelves.
There are lots of premade locker systems as well. See below for a few of my favorites:
Do you have a catch-all space in your laundry room? Do you love it as much as I love ours? XO!
