Happy Wednesday, peeps! If you have followed me for awhile, you know about my love for making a powder bathroom fancy and fun! Why not go all out in these little spaces? It gives you the opportunity to make a big statement in a small space and maybe use a wallpaper that you might not be daring enough to use in other areas of your house. I originally planned to recreate our California powder bathroom. So much so, that I bought another of the exact mirror as soon as we sold the house, because I loved it so much and knew I needed it in the next house. When it came time to order the wallpaper, I decided to change it up, because why not? I have a thing for pineapples and they mean “you are welcome here,” so why not have them in our powder bathroom. So, when I teamed up with Lowe’s for this project, I was so excited. This room was a vision in my head and I love that it has come to life!
We originally had a pedestal sink in this room. Ironically, I had requested it from the builder because I wanted to skirt it and recreate the exact look we had in our old house and I had a pedestal sink in that bathroom. Things have changed so much though since I originally designed our other powder bathroom, I now have two kids that are potty trained, that use this bathroom on a regular basis. Besides our master bedroom bathroom, this is the only bathroom downstairs and it’s very easy access. I would say the little presidents use this bathroom 80% of the time. In our old house, our powder bathroom was mainly for guests because we also had a guest bedroom and bathroom downstairs that we all used when we didn’t want to walk upstairs. There was no need to keep anything extra in this room because it was only used by guests, so I would add soap, toilet paper, etc, as needed. I quickly realized that I needed a vanity in this bathroom to house extra toilet paper, wipes, extra towels, extra soap, etc. The vanity was the second item that I chose for this space (remember the mirror was first!). Immediately when I saw it, I knew it was perfection. Because of my love for antique brass/champagne bronze, I knew I would switch out the faucet and the cabinet handles (I spray painted the handles with this). This was an easy fix and after that, it was everything I was looking for. I knew I wanted to tile half of the wall. I just love this look and honestly, I have plans to do this in a few other bathrooms in this house. The beveled subway tile is so fun and a really neat spin on a basic subway tile. I love it on a wall! I figured half wallpaper and half tile would be a winning combination and honestly after seeing it together, I am so glad I decided on both. After adding the rest of the antique brass hardware and accessories, this is the powder bathroom of my dreams and it’s always a conversation starter with guests. Even Mr. Fancy loves this room. He was unsure about the pineapple wallpaper at first, but after seeing the whole bathroom, finished, he loves it. As do the little presidents! Thank you to Lowe’s for helping make my vision a reality!!
